Halogenated hydrocarbons

Collective term for the group of partly halogenated organic substances.

Collective term for the group of partly halogenated organic substances, including chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), partly halogenated chlorofluorocarbons (H-CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), halocarbons, methyl chloride, methyl bromide, etc. Many halogenated hydrocarbons have a high Global Warming Potential. Those containing chloride and bromide are also responsible for depleting the ozone layer.
