Emissions scenarios are potential future development paths for human emissions of greenhouse gases and aerosols.
Emissions scenarios are potential future development paths for human emissions of greenhouse gases and aerosols. Climate models draw on these scenarios to show the impacts of political decisions and other factors on the future climate. As such, emissions scenarios are potential courses of action. They allow us to quantify the climatic impacts of certain policies or choices; however, they do not allow us to determine which development is most likely.
