Scenario
Scenarios are based on a range of assumptions concerning global developments like population growth, economic and social trends, technological advances, resource consumption and environmental management.
A plausible and often simplified description of how the future might look, based on a coherent and internally consistent group of assumptions concerning the most important drivers and relations. Scenarios can be derived from projections but are often based on additional information from other sources, in some cases combined with a model history.
