Climate archive
A climate archive offers insights into the Earth’s past climate / climate history. Accordingly, anything that stores information on past climatic conditions can be considered a climate archive.
Climate archives contain climate data on the past. Natural climate archives are e.g. tree rings and layers in glacial ice (ice cores). Historical climate archives are e.g. chronicles and historical observational data.
