Sastrugi
Sastrugi are rippling grooves or ridges in the snow.
Sastrugi are rippling grooves or ridges in the snow. The sharp, irregular and parallel ridges are formed on the snow’s surface by wind erosion and sublimation. On drifting ice, the ridges form parallel to the direction of the prevailing wind at the time of formation.
